Myspace comment RSS feeds

In a comment to my post about Myspace RSS feeds, michael asked How bout a rss feed for comments? You can now get an RSS (2.0) feed for Myspace comments on any user profile. Enjoy.

whoa

heylo?

hi! thanks for the writing these handy myspace scripts! i noticed that the comment feed isn't working properly. i was wondering if you would be able to fix this script sometime (the blog feed is working fine). TNX!

The feed should be working now.

i get this error. Ive tried with my and many of my friends profiles and it never works

Sorry, there was an error loading the MySpace comments.

When it says "there was an error loading the comments," that means myspace.com is down. I can't do anything to fix that.

Also, I've removed the images becuase posts were showing up as new every time someone changed their image. I thought that was more trouble than the images were worth.

Just dropin by 2 show u some luv

UR BEAUTIFIL

hi, wondering if there's a way to place an outside rss fee onto a myspace blog... iow, I like using blogger, want to capitalize on the myspace network, but don't want to blog twice. Is there a way to "syndicate" my blogger feed on myspace?

MySpace doesn't offer any way to do that, adam.

it doesnt seem to be working
'Sorry, there was an error parsing the MySpace comments.'

colin, please provide the MySpace page you are trying to get.

Nevermind, colin, I think I found the bug. Try again and let me know if it doesn't work.

will u marry me

great idea! i can't wait to use it. unfortunately, i see the same parsing error as above. myspace is up, and the profile i'm using is available and public. did myspace change their page format or ban you?

Ryan, it's working on most blogs. If you have one it doesn't work on, I'll need the address to identify the problem.

thanks for the quick response, scott. here's the profile i'm trying. i get the error with both URLs.

This script doesn't work.

Or it's not working for me.

Ryan and Goldsplinter, I'll update it as soon as I have time. Sorry, I've been pretty busy lately. Thanks for the notes.

somehow i never said that the script is indeed working for me again.
but did the title always show a snipet of the comment?
it would even more usefull if it showed the users name or link.

I've updated and moved the comment script. The titles now include the user's name. Please let me know if you have any problems.

Ryan, I tested on that profile and MySpace returned a "Bad Request" response (which I've never seen before) the first time I loaded it, but then it worked when I reloaded it. I'm not sure what's going on, but it seems to be a sporadic issue on MySpace.

thanks for the update
now i can find the users name which is a life saver

but imho it would be better if the description contained just the comment and not the name because most rss readers show the title above the description or you will already know who it is from clicking the users name in the title.
but you might not agree with that
i set my reader to remove everything before the colon in the description so it isnt a big deal.
And once again your service is a life saver

thanks, scott! it works with that example profile now. maybe it was just sporadic after all.

Im trying to use a flash reader hosted on another site.
I guess theres no chance of u putting up a crossdomain xml file?

z3rodo7com, what exactly do you mean by "a crossdomain xml file"? RSS is XML, and it can be read across domains. If you want something hosted on your own domain, email me details and I'll send you a freelance quote.

you are correct about rss and xml being cross domain, but the problem lies in reading the feed from a flash based reader.

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14213
i dont think i could give you a good description of cross domain files but that link has all the information from adobe on why it is needed

z3rodo7com, you can use a local proxy script to get around that Flash restriction without me changing anything on my end.

hmmm your right
for some reason that didnt seem like a good idea earlier
but it makes perfect sence to use php or something to make a local proxy
well thanks for your help i think i can stop bugging you now

Wah Wah Wee Wah!

The myspace RSS generator doesnt seem to be working. hmmm

Thanks B-Rich. MySpace just changed formatting. I updated to work with the new formatting.

I'm not sure but it seems to miss out comments where the user is online, probably because MySpace includes the additional image:

It didn't past the line, even with the dot.. Oh well. If you find a page with a comment from someone who is online you'll see what I mean.

I'm seeing the same problem as Mikey. :(

I have a friend who is unable to view my comments or add comments to my page. She is using Windows and IE. Have you ever heard of that problem?
