some people in my family are Type 1 and others have developed Type 2 later. I think of a type 2 person as people who were close to type 1 at birth but were somehow granted a repreave until later in life. I have not developed type 2 but am certainly genetically inclined. unfortunately I eat and drink too much and do not exercise enough. If I do develop it I will have no one to blame. I will reflect on your comments.

To the above comment, type 1 and type 2 diabetes are 2 different diseases entirely. I have type 1 (juvenile) but didn't get it until I was 28 years old. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease, type 2 is a metabolic disease, what cures one type won't cure the other, they have different causes. And it is correct that most type 2s bring it on themselves, whereas type 1 cannot be prevented no matter what, you either get it or you don't.
