why does a link to "christians" take me to pat robertson and not martin luther king jr., doris day, or even jesus? how about "headline grabbing a**holes" taking me to pat robertson?
Christian churches in America have willingly associated themselves with people like Robertson for years. I suggest you ask these churches why he has been allowed to represent their religion, rather than those you list. Many now rushing to distance themselves from Robertson were conspicuously silent when he called homosexuals "self-absorbed narcissists" and blamed them for divorce and abortion, or when he said a liberal judicial branch is worse than Nazis, or when he claimed Bush was God's preferred presidential candidate. If he was Christian then, why isn't he Christian now?
i don't have an answer to your question, but i think you make the mistake of taking the loudest shouting voice to be representative of a larger body. he gets published and gets a headline because of shock value.
i just won't accept the generalization, "christians like murder." nor would i accept the stament, "pat robertson represents christianity." i would accept, "pat robertson represents a twisted faction in christianity."
My point is that I'm only adopting the generalization Christians make of their own religion by allowing someone like Pat Robertson to speak on behalf of them. If you won't accept the generalization, you should direct your complaint to the church, not me.
